Dejan Zečević was born in 1972 in Belgrade. He graduated from the Faculty of Dramatic Arts, Department of Film and TV directing. So far he has directed eight feature films, one documentary-feature and several short and TV films, a segment in a composite film, and six TV series. His films have received more than 100 prizes at film festivals in Serbia and abroad and four of them received FIPRESCI Award for Best director (1996, 1998, 2002, 2007) in Serbia. His most successful film is The fourth man which received 16 awards. His latest film Offenders was premiered at the Chicago International Film Festival in October 2017.
It’s a fascinating study, but what made the film for me is its sharp monochrome cinematography, rendering Belgrade as a character unto itself, vivid as any human in the film.
