UNA QUESTIONE PRIVATA / RAINBOW: A PRIVATE AFFAIR

Milton, a good-looking young man, is head over heels for the enigmatic Fulvia, who is as flirtatious and unpredictable as she is stunning. Over the course of one idyllic summer spent in a country mansion, Milton vies for Fulvia's attentions, which are in danger of being won over by a newcomer, the charismatic Giorgio. Years later, Milton, having joined a partisan band, is on a mission to rescue Giorgio, who has been captured and is likely to be executed. Milton's attempt to find and free his friend is wrapped up in his most private fear: was the relationship between Fulvia and Giorgio ever more than just friendship?

Paolo Taviani and Vittorio Taviani were born in San Miniato, Tuscany. They began their career as journalists before transitioning to cinema. They have directed a number of films with each directing alternate scenes with the other watching but never interfering. The most notable are: Padre Padrone, The Night of the Shooting Stars, Caesar Must Die and Wondrous Boccaccio. Rainbow - A Private Affair is their latest film. 

At once a summing-up of the Tavianis' filmmaking and an affirmation of their unshaken belief that human life is an uneasy compromise between the private and political spheres.
