Anne Fontaine was born in 1959 in Luxembourg, but moved to France in her adolescence. She had her breakthrough as a dancer in Paris before she moved on to screenwriting and directing. Her films have received numerous nominations to, among others, César, BAFTA, Cannes, Venice and San Sebastian. She is known for The Innocents, Coco before Chanel and Reinventing Marvin.

Best by a mile are newcomer Jules Porier as the young Marvin, a pale boy with gamin grace, and Grégory Gadebois as his father, a phlegmy walrus of a man forever exposing expanses of flesh in sleeveless denim and distended briefs.
