Jan Cvitkovič was born in 1966 in Ljubljana, Slovenia. He is a director, screenwriter and archaeologist. While being a student of Archaeology, he began to write prize-winning screenplays and won acclaim as an actor. He was awarded Lion of the Future for his debut Bread and Milk at the Venice International Film Festival. His second feature Gravehopping was screened at San Sebastián Film Festival, where it won Altadis Award for Best New Director.
