FORTUNATA / LUCKY

This is a story of a young mother with a failed marriage behind her, who fights daily for her dream to open a hair salon, challenging her fate in an effort to free herself and gain independence and right to happiness.

Sergio Castellitto is an actor, director and screenwriter. Born in 1953 in Rome, he graduated from the Silvio D'Amico National Academy of Dramatic Art in 1978. He began his theatrical career in Italian public theaters and in cinematography first as an actor beside Marcello Mastroianni and Michel Piccoli. The first film that he directed was Libero Burro, followed by Don't Move written by Margaret Mezzantini.   

Luckless characters populate Fortunata, a fervent melodrama in which overblown emotions engulf everything in their path — including audience empathy.
